Q: I acquired a 1950 GEW 98 Mauser rechambered for 30-06. Will this chamber stand up to modern ammo pressures or should I stick to the M1 Garand rounds. Thanks.

A: Hi Steve! I'm afraid I can't attest to the capabilities of an older rifle that has been rechambered. I believe you would be wise to play it safe with lower pressure 30-06 ammo designed for the M1, though!

A: Absolutely! Ammo optimized for the M1 Garand is actually loaded to a lower pressure than the typical commercial hunting cartridge, because the old military rifle has a very particular gas system. Any 30-06 rifle will be able to run this ammo just fine!
Q: Is this suitable for use in a Remington 1903A3 ?

A: Yes sir! Many shooters prefer lower pressure 30-06 ammo when firing an M1 Garand to accomodate its finicky gas system, but it's my understanding that the 1903A3 is a much heartier rifle that is content to fire even modern hunting ammo. That said, this ammo which is optimized for the more selective Garand ought to run just fine through your 1903A3 as well.
