A: According to WInchester, 982 ft lbs striking energy at 100 yds. Test barrel length not specificed (although I assume it's 16 in).

A: Great question. Yes, at moderate range, that would be fine for hog hunting. Remember the bullet needs enough velocity at the point of impact to expand properly. Winchester advertises this bullet will have velocity of about 1550 fps at 200 yards. I wouldn't try to take game with it much past that.
