Details
Consistency is the name of the game for this 300 win mag round, which, despite being marketed for “Deer Season” might be slight overkill for most deer. What’s more relevant is that it features a light weight projectile in the hard hitting, flat shooting .300 Winchester Magnum cartridge which makes it that much more suitable for deer and other like sized game. In reality, this cartridge could easily be used for much bigger game in most scenarios; especially at longer distances like 200-350 yards.
The 150 grain projectile is more than enough for large game and while it may not be the pinnacle of the .300 Winchester Magnum loads, weight wise, it is a potent hunting weight for many different game types. The Extreme Point projectile is a polymer tipped bullet that controls expansion and offers significant improvements in ballistic coefficient. The clean burning powder in this load pushes the 150 grain polymer tipped bullet out of the barrel at 3260 feet per second with 3535 ft. lbs. of energy.
The accuracy potential of the round is near the ½ MOA specification but will depend on how the rifle is outfitted and the conditions. Certainly its accuracy is sub minute of angle at default.
