Details
Federal's Gold Medal ammo loaded with 168 grain Sierra Match King bullets is considered the commercial market leader for 308 match ammo. Federal uses the best ingredients in this proven recipe with carefully designed brass cases topped with Sierra's incredibly consistent and concentric 168 grain hollow point boat tail bullets. The thin jacket of this match ammo helps the bullet expand as it travels down the barrel to have good contact with the grooves and lands the whole way down helping compensate in any imperfections that your barrel may have.
Federal uses only Gold Medal primers that are highly consistent from shot to shot to shot.

I shoot this stuff from a Howa 24" barreled action in a MDT chassis. At 100 yds I can actually get them through the same hole, at 600 yds if I miss the 3" bullseye, it's me not the ammo. Will be buying tons of this stuff from BulkAmmo. (Posted on 7/6/2024)

This is the most accurate factory load for my specific application in my opinion. It is the highest grain I use for this application, suppressed auto

I've bought several different types of .308 ammo on this site and up until now, I feel like I've somewhat wasted my money... and although it took spending on diff types to learn this lesson, I will tell you that this 168-gr ammo is by far the best ammo for the price... it's extremely accurate and just blows the other stuff away...the 147 and 150 gr ammo just isn't accurate at greater distances, period... buy a little at a time if you must, but just don't waste your money on anything else... If you want an extremely good cartridge for sub minute accuracy then buy this ammo. Our shooting group will shoot out to 1,000 yards and this ammo will meet your needs and then some. I consistently get .75 to 1 MOA groups at 100-200 yards with this ammo from both a Ruger American (22" barrel bolt gun) and a DPMS GII compact hunter (16" barrel). It isn't intended as a hunting round, and there are less expensive rounds for plinking, but this is my "go to" round when I want to focus on improving my shooting technique. If I get a "flyer," I can be pretty sure it is something I did wrong rather than the cartridge. (Posted on 9/13/2016)

I routinely shoot bi-weekly at a 1,000 yd range on the NC / VA border. To really appreciate this ammunition you have to focus on targets past 400 meters in various dynamic conditions. My farthest consistent shots have been 700 yds with both FN bolt and gas guns using NightForce glass. This cartridge is capable of more distance; however, ensure your rifles have enough MOA for long range capabilities. (Posted on 5/28/2016)

Tried to use other brands and grains in my DPMS AR10. Havent found anything else that comes close to these. Of course the downside is cost. At 100yrds I am in the bull just about every time inside a MOA. I use these Federals for hunting and am having pretty good functionality with PPU Prvi Partizan .308 Win. Not sure what the date of manufacture is, havent seen these boxes in a few years, so hopefully its been stored properly and Performs as it should. In the future, I'll verify the items before buying. This is the only ammo I ,use in my Springfield S.N.Match, for target shooting, truthfully, that is the only ammo that I ,shoot...Scope is 4-14 x 56 AO/ Mill Dot. W/ All the bells on it. 200 Meters is the Zero. Bagged & Benched , tight it gets, to the point of no fun, as this ammo ,loves this Rifle, or the other way around. It will shoot 4"-6" Groups @ 1000 Meters, and yes this is my # 1 Rifle, and have had it for along time.Now if the wind is blowing, I , don't do as well ,as with any weapon u must adjust for it, now that's, fun 168 gr. F.M.J.B.T.H.P. GR8 AMMO GR8 PRICE..WORKS FOR ME & , I'm very close to the factory ammo , as far as reloading, But the Factory stuff is still a little better. Trial & Error, That is fun also. Thanks,. I have used some other good ammo in my M&P AR-10, and got pretty good groups. about 2" at 200 yards. But this ammo was getting 3/4" groups at 200 yards consistently, and several rounds that were touching edges on the target. I do not shoot often (enough) to become as proficient at shooting groups as tight as I would like, but with this ammo I am convinced ammo selection makes a world of difference for the better.
This ammo is clean burning, good stuff. I am going to be hard pressed to use anything else, especially when hunting.

use this ammo for my sig 716 patrol, only has a an 18 inch barrel but have 4 inch groups at 300 yards, 5 inch at 400, 7 inch at 500 and 10 inch at 600. The ammo is the best performance wise, I have used this ammo for hogs, varmints, nilgai, and deer. The knockdown power is not as good as the remington core loks, but with the added accuracy, a well placed shot will take down anything in South Texas. (Posted on 2/28/2013)

These rounds are a great buy for the money. I generally load my own but sometimes you just need to go with something that's a bargain and for the type of round I need for accuracy, this seemed to be the right choice at the time.

A: Primer type is an issue, but practically all new production brass ammunition has boxer primers and cases designed for boxer primers, which means that they are reloadable. These Federal Gold Match cases are boxer primed and ideal for reloading.
