Details
These lightweight .308 loads are perfect for employing a battle rifle for defense in urban or suburban environments as well as for stopping testy coyotes in the field. This ammunition is manufactured by Hornady, an American company that has been around since 1949 and has become well known for their unique projectile designs. Hornady arms this cartridge with one of their FTX (Flex Tip eXpanding) bullets which comprises a copper-jacketed lead bullet with a hollow nose that is covered by a polymer tip. The flat-nosed ballistic tip prevents the hollow cavity from being clogged prematurely by clothing, allowing for full expansion and maximum cavitation in a target, sure to drop a threat with ease.
In addition, the tip ensures positive expansion at low or high velocities for effective terminal ballistics at nearly any contact distance. At 155 grains, the bullet will not penetrate as easily through housing materials as heavier bullets would. Each projectile is crimped into a reloadable brass casing at its toothed cannelure which prevents the bullet from dislodging or setting back, preserving accuracy and dependable function. The case itself is Boxer-primed and coated with corrosion-resistant nickel that helps to smooth the cycling and extraction process. Inside the case is a measure of propellant that has been optimized for the load and can be expected to burn quickly while producing minimal flash; this is key to protecting the shooter from night blindness and facilitates faster sight re=acquisition for follow-up shots if necessary.
