These .357 Magnum rounds from Winchester are ideal medicine for humane handgun hunting when boars and deer are on the billet! Each of these cartridges houses a precise measure of high-energy propellant inside a reloadable brass casing which is equipped with a clean-burning Boxer primer. The case is coated with nickel for seamless loading into cylinders and tubular magazines alongside corrosion resistance in field conditions. Atop the round is a 158 grain jacketed soft-point (JSP) projectile with a flat nose which makes it safe for use with lever-action rifles.
158 grains is a normal heavyweight for the .357 caliber and boasts considerable momentum as well as impressive penetration. Upon impact, the JSP is designed to begin flattening at the nose resulting in a controlled rate of expansion during entry. This is made possible by the high strength copper jacket and core-locking cannelure which help the round punch through thick gristle and bone before coming to a complete stop in vital areas; the effect delivers more energy to arteries and organs and yields a quicker drop on game animals. The toothed cannelure also serves secure the bullet to its crimp for maximized accuracy potential.
Winchester has over 150 years of experience as the backbone of the American shooting tradition. Their Super-X line offers hunters excellent performance and consistent reliability at an affordable cost.

Q: I have been given an unfired Winchester #94 chambered in .357 from one of my brothers. I have some concerns about using my .357 revolver ammo in it. I have FMJ, some JHP and quite a bit of JSP flat nose and JSP hollow point as well as .38 wadcutters, FMJ & JSP hollow point. Which of these do you recommend for a tubular magazine?

A: Thanks for reaching out Brian! I know that rifle well. The big no-no with tubular magazines is pointed bullets – PSP and polymer tips and spitzer profile FMJs, primarily. Of course, handgun cartridges aren't loaded with such bullets so you're safe there. I don't know just how dangerous an FMJ's round nose profile really is, but I prefer avoiding it anyway because the thought of my rifle exploding brings me no comfort. Your flat nose and hollow point loads are both perfect for your M94, as their broad meplats cannot fire any primers they butt up against in the magazine. Your wadcutters are safe in theory, although I'm not certain how reliably your M94 will feed such rounds.
