The .357 magnum is hands down one of the most effective rounds within the realm of self-defense. Federal 180gr Vital Shok Jacketed Hollow point ammunition is the standard by which all .357 magnum ammo is judged.
The 180gr jacketed hollow point bullet combines the expansion properties of your standard hollow point round, and supercharges it with an exposed soft lead tip. This results in a devastatingly large permanent cavity upon impact that is as large as 1.5 times the diameter of the expanded hollow point round.
The Federal 180gr .357 Vital-Shok Jacketed Hollow point has a muzzle velocity of 1,050 feet per second, with a muzzle energy in excess of 485 foot lbs of force.
