Details
This 38 Special cartridge by Fiocchi has a 148 grain lead wadcutter projectile. The broad, flat tip of this bullet makes it perfect for training and competitive shooting, as it will cut a very clean hole through a target that is both easily visible and easily defined for scoring practices. This is also a viable self-defense round, as it will punch a wide hole through a soft target just like it would a paper one -- and a very disruptive round hole at that. It penetrates marvelously, too.
As is nearly universally the case for wadcutters, this cartridge offers a subsonic muzzle velocity of 910 fps. This limitation in velocity is owed mainly to the projectile’s lead composition, which would create deposits in the rifling and forcing cone of a revolver were it to pass through either at too great a speed.
As one of Italy’s oldest and largest ammunition manufacturers, you can always count on Fiocchi to deliver. This cartridge’s clean burning American gunpowder, reloadable brass casing, and reliable primer are all indicative of the Italian’s company’s devotion to quality.
