Details
PMC Starfire’s +P loading of the .38 Special cartridge is
perfect for revolver users. The Starfire bullet is designed to expand and
penetrate simultaneously through the use of sharp ribs inside the cavity. The
cutting power of the ribs activates during expansion and generates penetration
totaling approximately 9-14 inches.
This cartridge uses a lighter 125 grain bullet to achieve velocities around 976 feet per second. As a +P load it may not be suitable for all revolvers. However, due to SAAMI’s change in .38 Special specifications in 1972, modern +P ammo is comparable to “standard” .38 Special in the early 20th century.
PMC’s Starfire personal defense ammunition is produced by the Poongsan Corporation, a South Korean munitions company that also manufactures the PMC Bronze series of range ammunition and the PMC X-TAC series of military specification rounds. The company uses internally sourced components and stringent electronic powder checks to ensure consistency and quality in its production.
