Details
This 40 S&W cartridge by SinterFire features a 105 grain frangible bullet. Because it is made of compressed tin and copper powders rather than lead, this bullet will disintegrate on impact. The result is that it is practically unable to penetrate targets as well as cause a ricochet, so it is optimal to use for training with metal targets.
A frangible bullet does come with a caveat, however: That fragility means it may not endure a semi-automatic weapon’s loading cycle, and a revolver’s forcing cone might easily prove too much for it to handle as well. Still, practically immunizing yourself against the chance of a disastrous ricochet is well-worth the compromise.
This cartridge’s non-corrosive Boxer primed casing adds additional value to the handloader. You can buy more of these specialized bullets directly from SinterFire. SinterFire has specialized in the production of lead-free ammunition since their foundation in 1998 -- indeed, they invented this type of frangible bullet.
