Details

Perennially among the top three producers and vendors to law enforcement for 40 S&W ammunition, Speer is an excellent source for duty ammunition and loads that are sufficiently vetted for use in personal defense scenarios and in training situations. Lawman Ammunition is a fantastic range round for practicing with your firearms and ensuring good reliability and functional testing. This is a 165 grain .40 S&W load in the Speer Lawman Line.

As far as range rounds go, this is a good bargain load with reloadable boxer primed brass and a full metal jacket (in this case Speer refers to it as a “Total Metal Jacket” but it’s comparable to a full metal jacket projectile). The 165 grain projectile is accurate and easily digested by most .40 S&W firearms on the market. The reliability of the round has been proven by the amount of practice ammunition supplied to law enforcement agencies year in and year out. The constant feedback by officers and purchasing agencies allows Speer to fine tune their production models and ammunition offerings so they can mitigate the common complaints that you will find with other budget range ammunition (and duty ammo too).

In the case of this load, the 165 grain bullet moves out of the muzzle around 1150 fps with a energy of 480 Ft. Lbs. and delivers good consistency and lower recoil than some of the other competing offerings.
