I had purchased MBI ammo for my 357/38 Ruger and it worked great, accurate, clean, reliable but I was not sure about using it in my older XD40, so I bought only 200 rounds. Surprisingly good, no problems at all and as accurate as the more pricey .40 S&W range ammo I was using. I have ordered more for both the Ruger and the XD. Retired law guy and it was time to renew my annual CCW license so I didn't want to use my personal defense ammo, I bought the .40 fmj 180gr MBI to qualify, I didn't have any problems with the ammo great accuracy..86/90 on the range, the four I missed were four to the forehead which were out of the targets torso..lol..I meant to hit those forehead shots as I was at 25yards, kinda just wanted to see if the accuracy was still there...lol..it was, definitely will buy from bulk ammo again..Timmay, Calif.

I bought a couple hundred rounds of this bagged .40 S&W by MBI to decide if I liked it for plinking and target practice. What I found out is that this stuff is great shooting ammo for that purpose. There were no jams, slow fires, or wild projectiles...mag for mag this ammo shot as well as any of the "Name Brand" ammo we brought out with us. I bought 300 rounds and I shot the first 100 today through my G22 gen 3. Before going to the range, I inspected all the rounds and found a lot of tooling marks in the casings, lead, and a few in the primers. I found 6 rounds that I felt were questionable (aggressive marks in the brass and one primer that looked used) and sat them aside. I had 4 misfires out of 100 but everything else fed and ejected perfectly. I gave the 4 misfires one more shot but they would not fire. I then took the 6 questionable rounds and loaded them one at a time, these all fired perfectly. This ammo was extremely inconsistent, I was hitting all over the place. It go so bad, I bought a box of Federal white box to see if it was me. Immediately saw my usual groupings. This is the most inaccurate ammunition I have ever fired. Luckily I am using it to work on fundamentals so I am still getting good use out of this ammunition. This product is for casual shooting ONLY! (Posted on 3/27/2015)

The only problem I had was that the rounds are dirty. seems not all of the powder is burning which is why you need to make sure you clean your gun right after. The load seemed steady as i barely needed to adjust between rounds. Lead surface and finish is a little rough. It does show that the finish/polish is not perfect like the rounds we are used too. A little more detail in the finish after it's molded/press is my only feedback to the company. I shot 500 rounds through an XD40 and i may have had 2 miss loads/feed and no miss fires. I bought 1000 rounds since it was a good deal. Within the first 6 shots I had a misfire with the bullet still in barrel, removed bullet and tried again, within 2nd magazine I had another misfire. Once I got the bullet out, again, I decided not to use anymore and am trying to return them and exchange for something else. No more re manufactured ammo for me. (Posted on 2/2/2015)

I had 4 of the first 100 fail to fire out of my Glock 23. 2 of the misfires fired on the second strike of the hammer. After 2 attempts, the other two were thrown away. Therefore, I am not real positively impressed. I think I will try another brand, though many other commenters' experiences were very positive.

this ammunition is very reliable cycled perfectly through my 40 Cal Ruger perfectly not one jam not one failure to fire super accurate you could drive a nail at 50 yards with this ammo the gun had a lot to do with it too but the ammo had just as much role in the reliability and accuracy it may be reload ammo but it works just as good as brand new ammo.I highly recommend this ammunition for those that are skeptical about buying reloaded ammo have no fear it will work every time (Posted on 1/14/2015)

I am a gunsmith and test fire about twenty pistols per week. I have been looking for an inexpensive reliable 40 cal. so that I don't have to charge my customer's an arm and a leg for function tests. I think I have found what I have been looking for in MBI rounds. I fired all one hundred rounds through ten different guns and had no misfires or jambs of any kind. Not the stuff I would use for home defence but most certainly good for practice and plinking. Some of the rounds seemed a bit hotter than others but it was nothing that concerned me in the least. I bought a Glock 23 for carry and needed to get acquainted with it. .40 isn't too over priced around me but I had it in mind to shoot a lot of it and quickly. The price on these was just right.

You get a mixed up assortment of which ever caliber you buy some bullets are more powerful than others. I have bought both .40 cal and 9 mm of this ammo I have had no misfires or hang up with this ammo out of my glock handguns. But with the inconsistent ammo that comes in the packs I wouldn't be surprised if people had problems with this type of ammo. Great value for the ammo will definitely buy again and also will be recommending this to friends! And as always bulk ammo has the best shipping out there fast and accurate no bs! Did not have any hangups, all rounds fired well, its possible that some bullets are less powerful, I say this because I shot a dryer's door (made of steel, but not really thick) The bullet went inside the dryer but stayed in the drum, and didn't seem to be deformed at all. Bottom line - great for practice, reliable, cheap, some or all round might be underpowered to some extent (Posted on 3/3/2013)

Bought 400 rounds of this ammo to use at the range. As another reviewer noted, I too had the 2% failure rate with this - 2 rounds of the first 100 that did not fire. Primers were punched as well as all the others. For punching holes in paper, these can't be beat. Just wish the price would stop going up so fast. (Posted on 1/31/2013)

out of the 100 rounds i fired i had 3 dead primers. the ammo is not very consistant as ar as acuracy and charge pressure goes. those are the facts however i am still probably toing to buy more because it is absolutely the best bargain your going to find. also it isnt steel case for that price. my experience with this ammo is through a gen 3 glock 22 and a fnp40. both had the same problems with this ammo. great buy, just dont bulk up with this ammo for a SHTF idea or anything of that nature. I was amazed at how good my Springfield XD40 Subcompact did with this ammo. i went through 100 rounds w/no problems at all. i usually buy the remington ammo on sale at the local chain sporting good store. i was pleasantly surprised with how clean and accurate it was.
