Details
PMC Starfire self-defense rounds
come in a variety of common cartridges including .40 S&W. They are
engineered with a ribbed design that provides additional penetration from the
moment of impact even as the round is expanding. This results in an overall penetration
of around 9-14 inches.
The .40 S&W iteration of Starfire propels a heavy 180-grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of 985 feet per second. Each box holds 20 rounds in boxer-primed reloadable brass cases.
Starfire is PMC's high-end defense cartridge. Poongsan, the maker of PMC ammunition, also produces FMJ range ammunition under the PMC Bronze brand and NATO-spec rifle ammo under the PMC X-TAC brand. Based in South Korea, Poongsan is a longtime military contractor with extensive knowledge of modern quality control procedures. In order to maintain the quality of its products, the company uses a vertically integrated production model and manufactures its own bullets, primers, and other components.
