Winchester’s W Train & Defend line of ammunition comprises two distinct types of cartridges: Train rounds that are meant to familiarize new shooters with the basics of firearm operation, and Defend rounds which perform identically to the training ammunition but possess features designed to make them more effective at stopping human-sized targets.
This 45 ACP cartridge falls within the Train category. Its 230 grain projectile features a full metal jacket, so it is perfect for lengthy target practice sessions as it will keep your bore unfouled by lead residue for more accurate shots in between cleanings. This round is designed to give less recoil, so newer shooters can shoot comfortably longer and also learn not to flinch instinctively as they hone their skills. Its muzzle velocity of 850 fps is well below supersonic, so those unfamiliar with firearms will not be put out by loud, startling cracks. All in all, this round is a fine way to introduce anyone to shooting!
