I have ordered through Bulk Ammo several times; shipments arrived promptly and prices were the best I had found. The American Eagle Federal 5.56 x 45 FMJBT shoots well in my Sig Sauer 516 Patrol; 16" barrel with 1:7 twist. No misfires, FTF or FTE after at least 200 rounds. Though I am a retired police officer shooting has not been my priority for several years. I am reloading and shooting once again and am in the process of rebuilding my ammo contacts and suppliers. Q: Is this ammo steel core. The range I shoot at does not allow steel core. They check it with a magnet.

A: This M193 5.56x45 rifle ammunition will be safe to use at your rang and will pass (not stick) the magnet test. Almost all M193 bullets will be safe to fire at indoor ranges that have these restrictions in place. On the other hand, the M855 bullets, including the Green Tip rounds, will not pass the test and are best saved for outdoor range applications.
Our selection of .223 Rem ammo will also offer M193 rounds for indoor range use including PMC 55 grain in .223. These may be fired in the 5.56x45 chamber, though it should be noted 5.56 ammo should not be fired in .223 chambers.
