Winchester's Open Tip - Range ammo is a righteous choice for plinking that won't put a dent in your precious stash of 6.5mm Creedmoor match ammunition. Each cartridge is built upon a reloadable brass casing that has been cleared free of burrs and will chamber correctly each time. The casing is equipped with a non-corrosive Boxer primer for reliable ignition that won't leave behind metal-eating salts in your bore. A helping of clean-burning propellant inside the casing helps provide consistent muzzle velocity for repeatable ballistic characteristics.
The round is topped off with a 125-grain Open Tip projectile which is revered for its uniform weight distribution and dimensions thanks to its construction process: a uniform copper jacket is filled with lead material, leaving the preformed jacket with a predetermined thickness on all sides. This translates to greater stability in flight, less drag, and tighter groups on target. While the round has an open cavity in its nose, it is not recommended for hunting, self-defense, or purposes other than target shooting. The 125-grain weight is close to the lighter loads in the 6.5mm Creedmoor caliber and produces a flatter trajectory for forgiving holds at a distance.
