Details
The rimmed 6.5x57mm cartridge variant. This is a round made exclusively for the break open models and a few rare other offerings. This cartridge is not interchangeable with the regular 6.5x57mm cartridge and it is essentially the same thing as the sister variant except of course the rimmed casing.
The rimless cartridge exhibits the same performance as this rimmed cartridge with both loads offering 2542 feet per second velocity and 1883 ft. lbs. of energy, which is above the needed threshold for large and intermediate sized game in most of Europe. This is a round that is very popular in Europe for deer stalking and while it’s used in the United States, it is just recently ramping up as a cartridge that would get any kind of mainstream attention. The performance is nice, but it becomes very nice when the cartridge is handloaded. That is a popular pastime for those familiar with the 6.5x57mm cartridge, with most of them loading it extra hot or changing it to an Ackley Improved variant to squeeze some extra power out of it. Good thing this brass is reloadable easily.
This is a 131 grain soft point projectile in a brass cartridge casing with a Boxer primer and made with virgin brass that has a rim.
