Details
A very solid performer for the 6.8SPC, the Remington UMC is relatively well priced, and offers considerable ballistics.
2625 FPS velocity and 1755 ft. lbs. energy equates to legitimacy on the battlefield or at the range. The UMC line has always delivered good consistency across all components and offers good accuracy and clean shooting. It is a fine value for most rounds relative to peers, and this load is no exception.
Some might say that this is the best hybrid round for the majority of shooters looking for flat trajectories, hard hitting power and terminal ballistics to harmonize for a round that is nearly as effective as a .308 out to 400 meters, and much harder hitting than a 5.56x45. It hasn’t been adopted by the military in the U.S.A. though many expected it to be a contender to replace the 5.56, but It still has a very special purpose to fulfill.
A great ballistic performer out to more than 400 yards, and generally double the weight of the midrange grain weights of the 5.56, with near interchangeability for the component parts of the AR/Clone platform, the 6.8 seems to make a lot of sense for the gap that exists between true long range ammo and the venerable 5.56x45.
