Bullets - 125 grain soft point (SP)
Casings - Berdan-primed brass-plated steel

Details

This round’s soft point bullet features a soft metal core enclosed by a stronger bi-metal jacket, permitting it to expand upon impact and cause greater damage. This design means that it will not only penetrate further than a hollow point, but cause lesser tissue damage as well -- both potentially advantageous when hunting for table fare. This round additionally features a Berdan primer, which improves shelf-life at the expense of making it less fit for reuse. As its case is made of brass-coated steel, this round will attract a magnet -- its bullet’s bi-metal jacket may contain metal which attracts a magnet as well.

Although they produce cost-effective ammunition, Golden Bear is committed to exact loading standards and as such are earning increased popularity among shooting enthusiasts who like spending a day at the range without shooting through their bank accounts. These rounds are an economical choice for fans of the AK-47 seeking to train, plink, hunt, or target shoot.

A: Hello Anthony! Golden Bear ammunition is manufactured in their Russian based manufacturing facilities.

A: Brown Bear manufactures this 7.62x39 round with a steel cartridge case with a brass coating to increase reliability and decrease friction while being loaded into the chamber. This steel will resist the resizing process that the case needs to experience during the reloading process. A berdan primer style reloading die would be required to reprime these cases. Puncturing a berdan flash hole with a boxer primer die could result in excessive flash from the primer during its next loading and result in higher peak pressures which may be unsafe. We offer boxer primed brass in 7.62x39 for reloading including Winchester, Prvi Partizan, Fiocchi and American Eagle brands. There are two of us here at BulkAmmo who reload this caliber and have confirmed all of these brands will work well for multiple loadings. The Fiocchi primer pocket seems to hold the primer tighter than some of the other brands, though this has never been an issue with any brands. Additionally, these brands may also be fired at an indoor range as the bullet will not stick to a magnet.
