The old school military surplus for the Russian big round has returned. This high quality spam-can-contained ammunition for the 7.62x54R is a 182 grain load that features a Berdan primer for positive ignition and a steel case. Cheap to shoot, versatile and made to exacting military standards, this is the ammunition to get for your older military surplus rifles like the Nagant and even for the more premium rifles like the AK variant based on the Dragunov Sniper rifle.

The sealed “spam” cans are a great way to buy this ammunition as it is protected from the elements and offers long-term storage potential. This price is exceptional and represents a recent find of an ammunition that is getting harder and harder to source thanks to importation regulations, years of availability and huge demand.

Capable of being used for any large game in North America under the right conditions, this is a versatile round with a long history of performance. This is the venerable round that Russian snipers have been using for about the past 100 years in every conflict – by no means is it tired or outdated. The ballistics are severe and the cost to shoot is excellent. Reliability is among the best for any cartridge anywhere, with the rimmed load being a consummate performer. This is not a reloadable round because it has a steel case and a Berdan primer, but the serious discount offered over normal brass is enough on its own to sell this round.

A: Hello Doug! This surplus ammunition does feature a lead core and a bi-metal jacket. As a result, the ammunition does contain steel and cannot be used at any range that requires a magnet test to be performed.
