Details
For a round that used to occupy a significant place in the ammunition market many years ago, the 8mm Mauser rifle round has been dwindling in terms of availability. It has not however, changed the fans of 8mm from believing in the merits of the round. Finding great quality military surplus 8mm Mauser rounds that are priced well, is always a treat for shooters of the round. This is that sweet find. No nonsense, no marketing hype. Just a great shooting round, that has been going strong since around 1905.
Not that this surplus ammunition is that old: it’s generally from manufacture dates of 1970s-1980’s and is Yugoslavian in origin. A classic 196 grain full metal jacket in a brass cased Berdan primed cartridge, means it can be reloaded with some additional work, but at this price it may be worth just buying more ammunition instead of reloading. Lacquer on the primer helps to keep this ammunition storable for the long-term. Whatever the Yugoslavian producers did: it’s working. This stuff is robust, powerful, clean (for mil surplus), reliable and good looking.
Whether it’s out of a plain jane Mauser 98, or out of something with a bit more firepower (like an MG15 or a FN49 or an MG 42), this is quality, value priced ammunition that you will be proud to shoot.
