ÂIn 1867, the popular UMC or Union Metallic Cartridge company was founded and started off by making firearms and ammunition. Back then, ammo and firearms were big business, just as they are today. Close to 45 years down the road, the Union Metallic Cartridge company joined forces with firearms giant Remington and created the Remington UMC we are all familiar with today.
