This 9mm Luger load from Hornady is an awesome choice for shooters who drive full-sized handguns and prefer their engines with a little more horsepower. Each cartridge consists of a reloadable brass casing which contains a stout +P pressure charge of clean-burning powder which contributes to greater muzzle velocity and terminal energy delivered to a target. The powder receives a spark of ignition from a non-corrosive Boxer primer that is mounted the base of the casing. The projectile propelled by this cartridge is a 124-grain XTP (eXtreme Terminal Performance) JHP (Jacketed Hollow Point) which features a jacketed base and body, sloped ogive, and skinny hollow cavity bordered by deep divots all around it.
This construction lends itself to very few lead deposits in the firearm, smooth feeding from magazine to chamber, and some of the most reliable expansion on the market. When the 9x19mm bullet expands in a threat target or nuisance animal, it will cause its entire body to tumble slightly while slowing down; this more effectively delivers target-stopping energy to the vital organs while reducing the chance for collateral damage to occur due to over-penetration. Hornady's XTP performance is so widely proven that many other manufacturers use the projectile in their own duty and self-defense loads.
